Lake District architectural practice Bywater & Tweedale has over 20 years experience of designing and managing the construction of imaginative buildings for public and private sector clients.

In order to market their expertise and services online and showcase the quality and creativity of their work, they decided to have some great quality professional images taken.  Fortunately, both Bywater & Tweedale and Great Impressions are members of the same business breakfast networking club and therefore already familiar with each others work.  More importantly, Great Impressions specialises in property photography, both exteriors and interiors as well as elevated shots and 360o virtual tours.

One of the properties Great Impressions was contracted to photography is Ghyll Cottage, a typical Lakeland cottage which had recently been sympathetically converted to meet the new owners’ requirements.

The interesting architectural features of this property are mainly situated on a side of the building, which has a steep drop down into a small ghyll.  This made it very difficult to get a good photograph to showcase the work done by Bywater & Tweedale.  To have any chance of getting a good shot, the photograph had to be taken from a low level.   However this can often result in the property looking distorted (converging verticals) because the camera has been tilted when taking the photograph. Great Impressions were commissioned to overcome this challenge and achieved the results below by using a special perspective control lens.

“Good quality and imaginative images are important marketing tools in promoting our design led business and form the mainstay of our marketing strategy via electronic and hard copy mediums.

Having worked with a number of professional photographers in recent years we have recently engaged Richard Gill of Great Impressions to photograph a number of our recently completed building projects.  Richard has reacted very promptly to our enquiries, providing very competitive quotations, managing to work around the schedules of ourselves, clients and the weather.

We are very pleased with the results provided by Richard which showcase our work in a very impressive fashion and are delivered promptly in a very convenient format.   Great Impressions meet and exceed our requirements.”

Graham Bywater, Director at Bywater & Tweedale Architects.
