If you are running a hotel, guest house, B&B or holiday let are you doing everything to ensure your accommodation is the one that potential guests choose? Of course you have a lot of other things you need to do everyday so if you could narrow it down to just focussing on two things would that make it easier?
The good news is you can. Photographs and reviews. According to TripAdvisor, photos and reviews are two great reasons why potential guests will choose their next property destination. Listings with more than thirty photos get travellers to spend more time on their site and if your have no photos at all, then you are seriously harming your chances of getting bookings.
It is not just about quantity of photos, quality is important too. Your primary image, the one guest see when they first visit your web page or online profile is one of the most important. This should also be regularly updated. You can make it seasonal. For example in the run up to Valentine’s day why not use a photo of your luxury bath sprinkled with rose petals? And in autumn the roaring log fire in your lounge with tea and hot buttered crumpets on the table? You might want to consider getting these taken by a professional to make sure you get the most eye catching images.
To really make sure you get the best out of your photos you should do
- Have a great primary image that is regularly updated (seasonal)
- Have a good selection (30+) of images, showing the unique and special features of your property. Make sure these are up to date
- Make sure your images are optimised for all type of screen (desktop, mobile, tablets etc)
And if you really want to your customers to spend more time on your website add a video According to TripAdvisor (see rest of article) a recent survey showed that listings with a video drove at least 20% more engagement than properties without a video. Here is a typical example
